Gratitude: To Mom and Siblings

Gratitude: To Mom and Siblings

I miss the right proportions when I cut paper with a pair of scissors. I color beyond the line guide and also do it with different strokes. More or less, my hand feels awkward just by holding a pencil. Obviously, that is me saying I’m no good when it comes to artwork with an awesome finish. Yes, that is a skill I’ve yet to learn well! πŸ™‚ But despite the fact that artwork shiz ain’t my thing, I still care to do them once in a while.

At exactly 2 in the morning of May 13th, I woke the ‘artsy fartsy spirit’ up in me, got my colored pens and some unused papers in our file cabinet, and gave some effort doing these for Mother’s Day.

.

No, I did not opt to draw a lot. As you can see, words are just overflowing on colored papers. Sometimes, I feel that it’s an eyesore to even post the picture and tell you all that they are artworks. Heh. ^-^ But what’s important is the effort, lah! Teehee. So yea. I just gave more time thinking of what to write. But seriously speaking, the letters I’ve written for my mom and sisters came deep within my bosom. They contain words that came from the heart.:)

Inside my gifts are a new foundation make-up for mom and chocolates for my sister Raine. I came up with the following since those were the things I’ve observed they needed/wanted. Mom’s foundation before had the wrong shade to flatter her skin tone, so I bought her a new one. πŸ™‚ My sister Raine really has a sweet tooth and that made me buy chocolates for her. My sister Tine, who is abroad, is yet to be a mother. She married her hubby last year and they have no baby yet. Nonetheless, I greeted her on Facebook saying ‘I know that you’ll become a great mom someday!’ πŸ™‚

When I gave them their gifts, I felt happy. Despite the not so good, quite naive art, they still appreciated them and thanked me. Their thanks are more than enough. I felt like crying because of joy. I love my family so much.

On another note, my parents and I celebrated Mother’s Day at SM North Edsa and ate at “Tres”. Here are few pictures of what we ordered.

Sugpo on Crab Aligue

Pinakbet

Beef Salpicao

Crispy Pata

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all moms! β™₯

Naku okay lang yan kung di maganda basta effort lang talaga sa paggawa. Basta ang nilalaman ang nagdadala dyan hihihi. Someday sana paglaki ni Lain makareceive ako ng kahit ano hehe.

  2. Happy mother's day to your mom! Aww. you are such a sweetie. I bet your mom and sister loved the gift you've given them kasi nag-effort ka talaga to make something special for them. I hope I am as thoughtful as you are. Hanggang greetings lang kasi ako. You totally inspired me.

  4. That's so sweet. πŸ™‚ Buti naman binigyan mo ng gift yung mom mo and siblings. Natuwa siguro talaga sila. I bet masaya rin sa pakiramdam na nakabigay ka kahit papano ng ligaya sa kanila. πŸ™‚ Happy Mother's Day to your mom.

  5. Hi sis! Belated happy moms day to your mom! We pretty much did the same thing, I drew – wrote a letter – and made her a poem. My mom cried real tears while reading my simple gift for her. <3

  6. Same here, I'm not really the artsy fartsy type of girl but I think that's the whole point of creating something special. You do it for someone even if you're not good at it. Hope you enjoyed your day with your family! πŸ™‚

  7. We muslim cnt celebrate mothers day but I only askd her to join me to go to Spa. She looks happier than me which makes me so wanted to cry. Huhu. No, ur art arent dt pangit (Did i use dt correctly?) d thought of loving ur mom counts πŸ™‚

  8. I used to create cards for my parents way back in elementary but that side of me became dead already and is nowhere to be found. But I do think my parents miss it. I don't even know if they stored those crappy art cards I did way back.

Hey! Yours isn't bad at all and it's always the thought that counts. Me, I don't look at the price or the beauty of the gift, effort always blow me away. Nothing beats that. They're lucky to have you Sandra <3

Happy Mom's day to your mom (:

  9. Ako naman I just bought a box of cupcakes for mama. Hihi. I am really shy to write letters like that. Buti kayo affectionate. Kami di uso samin yan hehe

  10. Aww such a sweet gift! I made a video for my mom instead on mother's day though πŸ˜€ Wrote her a letter already before. Maybe I'd write a letter every 5 years haha!

  11. you never fail me in posting delicious looking foods sis! gawd! wanted to try it naaaa! belated mother's day sa mom mo πŸ™‚

  12. I would still consider those to be art! Haven't you ever heard of typography? You can do a lot of beautiful things with words alone. heehee, anyway, I would have loved to receive something like that, so clearly they mean something. It was so sweet of you to make those for them! Anyway, happy belated mothers day… and great blog, as always! πŸ™‚

  13. Homemade gifts and cards are the best way to go! When I lived with my parents that's what I did for every occasions: i drew and wrote for them, and they always liked it.

From what I can see you all had a great Mother's day and that's great!

  14. I'm sure your mom and your sisters appreciated your gifts! I always believe on the cliche that "It's the thought that counts". πŸ™‚ Good thing you made something for your mom. I didn't make any card for my mom this mother's day. We just went out and I treated her for lunch, that's all. πŸ˜› I think your gesture is sweeter than mine. πŸ™‚

And oh, I love shrimps! πŸ™‚ I want to try that Sugpo with Crab Aligue!! πŸ™‚ Looks really yummy! I hope there is a branch of Tres somewhere in the south. πŸ™‚
