After almost a decade, I had the chance to travel to the country where my love for Asian Drama all started — Taiwan! *cue in Meteor Garden OST* Three hours before our flight, we checked in at the airport. The travel time from Philippines to Taiwan was just about 2 hours. Upon arrival, we had our currencies exchanged (~1.90 PHP = 1.00 NTD), and upon exit, a cab shuttled us for about an hour to Ximending where we stayed for accommodation. This is the first part of our Taiwan Adventure, and here I share with you our hiking at Yehliu Geopark.
Explore Yehliu with me!
Here’s a video of our hiking adventure and nature walks at Yehliu Geopark. Don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel if you find Hiking Yehliu Geopark totally rad! xoxo
My inner-biologist was really giddy to finally see the geologic formations of Yehliu Geopark and hike its beauty! It’s along the northern coast of Taiwan with a travel time of around 50-60 minutes from Ximending.
Fish Market and Port
In front of Yehliu Geopark, there is a port and fish market that sells various seafood treats like fried seaweed, capelin, cuttlefish, mini crabs and even sweet potatoes. They offer food samples that you can never resist, I tell you! My favorite among the food selection would be the fried breaded seaweed and fried capelin that’s bursting with eggs in every bite! Just yummy!
There are stalls that sell keychains and jaded accessories, too, that can be bought by 3’s or 4’s for 100 NTD. They are perfect for pasalubongs/souvenirs for family and friends (souvenirs can be bought in various night markets and other places in Taiwan which I’ll be blogging in my upcoming posts!)
Yehliu Geopark Rock Formations
The entrance fee is 80 NTD for general admission and 40 NTD for children 6-12 years old. Operating hours is from 8AM to 5PM. Good thing the sun was up during our visit. Yehliu showcases the most dramatic geological formations at Yehliu, Wanli district.
Various rock formations were named based on their appearance: mushroom rocks, sea candles, fairy shoes, to name a few, and the most iconic of all — The Queen’s Head. We were able to hike up to the top of the mountains which took us about 60 minutes to and fro. It was totally fun and truly a memorable adventure!
Have stories and comments to share? I’d love to hear from you!

Fantastic post! Your gorgeous photos are making me wish I could have gone on that trip with you!!
Hiking is my favorite part of any journey, it gives you positive energy through free thinking in nature while walking and discovering the land beneath. I thought I could do anything in Taiwan but hiking. Your article lightened the idea in my mind.
