Finally had the chance to try out one of the well-endorsed budget-friendly Chinese restaurants in Manila. That is no other than Ying Ying Tea House in Binondo, Manila!

Ying Ying Menu - Pork Siomai

During my college years, we often go to Wai Ying Binondo for their dimsum (especially during my medical clerkship year when we rotated in a couple of hospitals around Manila, hehe). I have well heard of Ying Ying from my other colleagues, but never really tried them back then until now. Below is their menu, and can I just say that their dimsum’s way more affordable than the other restos in Binondo, too? Definitely a must-try and a budget-friendly resto!

Upon arrival, we hurriedly made it to the personnel who was in-charge of the customer listing. We were 12th to be served at that time (Saturday night at around 7PM), yet we had ourselves listed knowing that we seldom visit Binondo; A little bit of waiting won’t hurt. Don’t worry, the turn-over’s fast! We checked out their menu and boy they have a lot to offer!

From dimsum, mami, bihon, congee, soup, roasted meat, chicken, pork, beef, vegetables, to fish, oyster, shrimp, squid, sizzling dishes, frog, hot pot, fried rice, toppings, drinks, shakes, and desserts — you name it, they have it. They have frozen dumplings, as well, if you opt to bring them back home.

Ying Ying Tea House Best Seller

Ying Ying Tea House has a lot of specialty to offer. First, of course, is dimsum! We definitely ordered Hakaw (which is my ultimate fave since forever!!) and Pork Siomai. Imagine, their hakaw costs PHP 80.00 per order, relatively lower cost than the usual PHP 120.00 per set in some restos in Manila. It’s one of my comfort food that I won’t miss a chance to eat every time I go to Chinese Restaurants!

Their Yang Chow Fried Rice is a go-to that pairs well with any other food choices. It’s PHP 180.00 per bowl that is good for 4 people (Disclaimer: we’re not big eaters that day since we ate heavy lunch prior to dinner.. Their serving can be good for 2 hungry, and I really mean really hungry people too). This is lower in cost as compared to Mann Hann’s that is almost PHP 400.00 per order (Although I prefer Mann Hann’s Yang Chow any day, haha. But for the price difference, it’s an even!)

Ying Ying Menu - Yang chow Fried Rice

Fried Squid Salt and Chili – IS THE BOMB! I loved how chewy yet soft, quite melting this is in every bite!!It costs PHP 260 per order. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of the dish since all I thought was EAT , EAT, EAT!!

Ying Ying Menu - Sweet and Sour Pork

Sweet and Sour Pork – Your typical sweet and sour pork with the pinch of pineapple aftertaste has been a great pair to yang chow anytime,IMO. This one costs PHP 260.00.

Ying Ying Menu - Hot Prawn Salad

Hot Prawn Salad. It wasn’t that hot upon serving, probably one of the reasons why I wasn’t able to appreciate fully the dish. For prawn lovers who are into mayo-based dressings, nonetheless, you might want to try this one out! This costs PHP360.00

Ying Ying Menu - Toppings Lechon Kawali Rice

My nephew ordered this lechon kawali rice topping for PHP 120.00. It’s crispy and tasy! Don’t forget their shakes! They are legit! Watermelon shake was the one we tried, and it tasted great, which costs PHP 70.00 per mug.

Over-all, the dining experience was good! The place has its typical Chinese Restaurant vibe — gives me nostalgia of my good old college days!
